Special Olympics 50th Anniversary at Oak Brook Polo Club

June 20 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm CDT

Oak Brook Polo is excited to welcome the Mexico Polo Team from Escuela De Polo Mexico to play for one of the Club’s oldest and most celebrated trophies, The Drake Challenge Cup. Named after The Drake Oak Brook Hotel, this beautiful brass trophy has been played for since 1964 by some of the most celebrated polo players in American history during the Club’s glory days. Mexico has a had a long history of visiting and playing in Oak Brook from the 1950s to the late 1980s, including legendary polo player and hall of famer, Memo Gracida. We are thrilled to reignite this storied friendship and bring it back to Oak Brook.

On this day, we are also thrilled to partner with the Special Olympics to celebrate the organization’s 50th Anniversary. Prior to Sunday’s match at 1:00 PM, we will be hosting a Equine Special Olympics demonstration featuring some Special Olympics athletes put on by Bravehearts. Attendees will also enjoy authentic Mexican beats from Trio de Colores and Tasty Taco Food Truck.
